Ah.. the link. That was a specific move quote. Sort of how I felt after reading the Judge's comments. Needless to say, they seemed to think I had some good ideas but was too ambitious. Trip Wars Continue - an offical word After a long period of silence, and Skip Williams weighing in (only to be rejected by some fans as an unoffical opinion on matters pertaining to Pathfinder RPG)... Someone at Paizo has finally spoken up. Not everyone is happy, but I respect that someone answered the question instead of pretending the question didn't exist. So Sayeth James Jacobs: Almost anybody can trip, and you don't need a weapon in order to trip. However, if you want to apply an enhancement bonus, the fighter's weapon training class skill, Weapon Focus, or other modifiers to the CMB of your Trip Attack.. it needs to have the trip property. Note, my earlier interpretation has been overruled by this. So that's why the big bold print. So this sort of begs the question, does this mean you can't trip with some weapons? Or that you can only trip with certain weapons (those with the trip property)? The answer is it depends how you want to visualize it. If you have a greataxe, you can say you trip with it.. but you're still rolling with the mechanical equivelent to being unarmed. You don't get to apply the greataxe's enhancement bonus, and feats that apply to it, or any weapon training you have with it if you're a fighter... If you trip a Heavy Flail (which is a trip weapon), you CAN add any applicable enhancement bonus, feats, or training to your CMB when you perform the manuever. And of course you can drop it if you fail to successfully overcome your opponents CMD. Sorry for any confusion I caused! "Talk like this you would, if hand-up-butt-puppet you were!" Unbelievably, I have survived to Round 4. There are only 8 of us left! By next Tuesday there will be only 4 of us. In case you haven't seen it yet, here is my Round Three Entry. Round 3 had us taking someone else's monster from Round Two and statting it up. I chose the Ardorwesp, which you can see here: http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/rpgSuperstar/round3/jimGrovesArdorwesp I had a lot of comments and a lot of people picking at it too. :) I did a really long Q & A about the ardorwesp, where I tried to field some of the comments. Right before your game this evening (at 5 PM), the Judges will make the Round 4 entries visible to the public. In Round 4 I had to create a location somewhere in Golarion, and create an Encounter in an area in that location, using a Round 3 monster. (You could use additional monsters from the Bestiary, but a Round 3 monster was a minimum requirement). Finally I had to draw a map of the area suitable for a cartographer to make a professional map out of. This was scanned and will be visible to the public as well. As always I would be eternally grateful for your vote. No less valuable would be your comments, especially if the message board trolls come out. Some guy is pushing the limits of what one can about your own enteries during the period until the voting is closed.. so I need to be very circumspect. They're checking other websites and so forth. Next person to test the limits gets disqualified. So I can't say anything but to ask for your vote. :) If you can make a comment on the Paizo website, it would be gratefully received.. if you have the time. Heheh Heh eh I love this contest but the roller coaster can make you tired. Round Three is upon us! I was asked to choose someone else's monster and stat it up. I chose the Ardorwesp.
